Chansri A. Green
Chansri A Green is originally from Bloomington-Normal, Illinois where she began dancing at the age of seven. She received her formal training from the Joffrey Ballet School in NYC, as a scholarship student in the pre-professional trainee program for over eight years, as well as the Joffrey Workshop in San Antonio, Texas and attended the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida and the Julliard School in NYC.
She has been blessed with an abundance of different teaching and choreographic artists in her career. All in which have influenced her classical dance training and helped mold her own personal pedagogy, which she now passionately shares with all of her students. She has had the privilege of training and working with over the past 30 years, brilliant and talented people such as; Charthel Aurther, Alexander Bennett, Bonnie Brooks, Ann Carlson, Francesca Corkle, Alfredo Corvino, Winthrop Cory, David Gordon, Richard Englund, Jan Erkert, Betsy Fisher, Margot Fonteyn, Laura Glenn, Maria Grady, Benjamin Harkarvy, Frank Hatchett, David Howard, Finis Jhung, Dr. Gayle Kassing, Jiri Kylian, Gregg Lizenbery, Larry Long, John Magnus, Laurie Merriman, Trinette Singleton, Marjorie Tallchief, Eduardo Vivaro, Eve Walstrum, and Ethel Winters.
She received her BFA in Dance with honors, with a concentration in Education, from The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago in 2003. In 2004, she relocated to Hawaii to further pursue her education and attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa on fellowship. In 2007, she completed her MFA in Dance with honors, with concentrations in Education and Performance/Choreography. Throughout her career she has choreographed numerous pieces and has received several awards for her work. While in Hawaii over the past eight years, she has taught and choreographed dance at the The Arc of Hawaii, Kapiolani Community College, Punahou Dance School, University of Hawaii at Manoa, and The Movement Center, where she is currently the Artistic Director, Director of the Ballet Program, and Director and Choreographer of Encore Dance Project, the mature dance company of The Movement Center.Her artistic journey and relentless pursuit of dance has been guided and inspired by so many wonderful professionals. She is incredibly grateful for all of their time, patience and knowledge each graciously gave to her. She looks forward to continuing to honor her dance ancestry by enlightening and sharing the joy of performing arts with the next generation of artists and art patrons here in Hawaii.
