Musical Theater   

Musical Theater classes explore a theatrical genre which utilizes popular stylized songs and dances which either tell a story (book musicals) or showcase the talents of performers (revues). This class is an opportunity to expose children to Musical Theater. Students will learn songs and dances from current and/or classic musicals from various Broadway shows. Through singing exercises, simple dance movement for musical theater and an introduction to acting; with an emphasis on dance and vocal skills, students will learn basics of pronunciation, projection and breath control as well as footwork, jumps, turns, floor patterns and character presentation used in theatrical choreography.

Dress Code: Girls: Leotard, dance pants/capris or dance shorts with tights, black jazz shoes. Hair must always be pulled back neatly into a ponytail. – NO STREET CLOTHES/JEANS
Boys: Athletic pants, fitted t-shirt, black jazz shoes –NO STREET CLOTHES/JEANS

Song and Dance   

One of our most popular keiki classes! This class is an excellent introduction to Musical Theater for young children. Our singing and dancing students will learn beginning dance choreography to popular sing-along songs and musicals, as well as, teach young performers beginning vocal skills. Each fun and energized class will devote equal time to singing and dancing.

Performing Arts Experience    NO SUMMER SESSION

One of our most popular classes! A fun and creative exploration into the musical show experience combining singing, dancing, and acting. This class is an opportunity to expose children to Musical Theater by learning a modified book musical. Through singing exercises, simple dance movement for musical theater and an introduction to acting; students will learn basics of pronunciation, projection and breath control as well as simple choreography and character presentation used in theatrical performance. The students will perform what they have learned for family and friends in an informal showing during the last class. Please plan to attend every class!
"Summer Camp: A Musical Caper About Finding a Place to Belong"
a fun musical about the adventurous of the campers and counselors at Camp Runamok - from bugs, to campfires, to the big talent contest! Experience the excitement of singing, dancing and acting in Performing Arts Experience as we tell a tale about good old fashioned fun, friendships, and finding a place to belong.
This is a two semester class. Student must attend both the Fall #1 and Fall #2 semesters to participate. PAE’s performance will be the last day of the Fall#2 semester (12/18/16).

Vocal Production

This intro to vocal production class will cover the basics of vocal production: breath support, projection, expression, tone and performance. Students will work vocally on a variety of different types of musical genres both together as a class and individually as soloists. This class is aimed to build vocal strength and performance techniques.

Private Voice Lessons with Annie

Private vocal students will explore various genres of repertoire, allowing the student to discover his/her voice. Lessons will also be used to develop technique as well as proper application to a song in order to prepare the student for performance. Basic music theory and sight-reading will also be taught to give all students a more well-rounded understanding and appreciation of music as a field of study. Students are asked to bring a folder and a pencil to each lesson. All other materials will be provided.

Ages 5 to adult welcome.

½ hour privates available Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays between 4:30 - 6:30pm
